Open an audio file and set a gain: above 100% makes it louder, below 100% makes it quieter. Or switch on Normalize to automatically scale the clip so its loudest peak reaches full level — the simplest way to even out a quiet recording without guessing a number. The tool clamps samples so a boost never distorts by overflowing; a heavy boost on already-loud audio will simply flatten the peaks. Preview the adjusted audio, then download it as a WAV. Everything runs in your browser — the audio is decoded and processed on your device and is never uploaded.
Common questions
What does Normalize do?
It finds the loudest peak in the clip and scales the whole file so that peak sits at full level (0 dBFS). That maximizes loudness without clipping and is the easy way to lift a quiet recording.
Will boosting the volume distort it?
A large boost can push samples past the maximum, which is clipping. The tool clamps to avoid overflow, but heavily boosted loud audio will sound flattened. Normalize avoids this by scaling to the peak.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The audio is decoded and its volume adjusted locally with the Web Audio API. Nothing is sent to a server.
Why is the download a WAV?
Browsers reliably encode lossless WAV but do not expose an MP3 encoder, so the adjusted audio is exported as WAV. Convert it to MP3 afterwards if you need a smaller file.
