Play a test tone to the left, right, or both speakers.
Test your speakers online
Speaker Test plays a clean test tone so you can confirm your speakers work and are wired to the right sides. Choose Left, Right, or Both and press Play; the tone is sent only to the channel you picked. Left should come from your left speaker and Right from your right. If they are swapped, your cables or audio settings have the channels reversed. If a side is silent, that speaker, its cable, or its balance setting needs attention. You can adjust the tone frequency — a low tone checks bass response, a higher tone checks that a small speaker or tweeter is working. The tone is generated in your browser with the Web Audio API, so nothing is downloaded or uploaded, and it stops the moment you press Stop.
Common questions
How do I test left and right separately?
Press the Left button to send the tone only to your left speaker, and Right for only the right. Listen to confirm the sound comes from the matching side. Use Both to check they play together.
The wrong speaker plays — what does that mean?
If pressing Left plays from your right speaker (or vice-versa), your channels are swapped — usually a cable plugged into the wrong jack or a reversed balance setting in your audio configuration.
One side is silent. What should I check?
Confirm that side's speaker is powered and connected, check the balance slider in your operating system is centred, and make sure the volume is up. A consistently silent channel points to that speaker or its cable.
What does changing the frequency do?
It changes the pitch of the test tone. Lower frequencies test bass and larger drivers; higher frequencies test that tweeters and small speakers reproduce treble. Keep the volume moderate, especially at high frequencies.
Is anything downloaded or uploaded?
No. The tone is generated live in your browser with the Web Audio API — no audio file is downloaded and nothing is uploaded. It exists only while it plays.
