Open an audio file — MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, or anything your browser can decode — and its waveform is drawn so you can see where the sound is. Drag the start and end sliders to select the section you want to keep; the shaded region and the times update as you move them. Press Preview to hear just the selection, then Trim & download to save it as a WAV file. WAV is used because browsers can encode it losslessly and reliably; you can re-compress it to MP3 afterwards if you need a smaller file. The whole thing happens on your device — the audio is decoded and cut in your browser and is never uploaded, so it works with private recordings and keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Common questions
Are my audio files uploaded?
No. The file is read and decoded locally with the Web Audio API and trimmed in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so private recordings stay on your device.
What formats can I open?
Any format your browser can decode — commonly MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, and FLAC. The audio track of some video files works too.
Why is the download a WAV, not an MP3?
Browsers can encode uncompressed WAV reliably but do not expose an MP3 encoder, so the trimmed clip is exported as WAV. WAV is lossless and plays everywhere; convert it to MP3 afterwards if you need a smaller file.
Is there a length limit?
There is no fixed limit, but the whole file is decoded into memory to be edited, so very long files use more RAM and take longer on phones or older machines.
