Drop in a photo and this tool reads the EXIF metadata embedded by the camera or phone that took it — the make and model, lens, exposure (aperture, shutter, ISO), the date and time, and GPS coordinates when the photo was geotagged. It is a read-only viewer: it shows you what is hidden inside your image so you can decide whether to share it. The photo is read entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to any server.
Common questions
What information can it show?
Whatever the file contains: camera make and model, lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, the date and time taken, image dimensions and orientation, and GPS latitude/longitude when the photo is geotagged.
Why does my photo show no metadata?
Some images have none — screenshots, images exported by apps that strip metadata, or files that were already cleaned. PNGs and social-media downloads often carry little or nothing.
Does it show where a photo was taken?
If the photo was geotagged, yes — it shows the GPS coordinates and a link to view them on a map. Many phones embed this by default, which is worth knowing before you share a photo publicly.
Can I remove this metadata?
This tool only views it. To strip EXIF and GPS, use the Remove Image Metadata tool, which re-encodes the image so no metadata remains.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The metadata is read locally in your browser tab using the exifr library loaded on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it works offline and your photo stays private.
