Load a PDF, pick where the numbers go (a corner or the centre of the footer/header), choose a format — plain '1', '1 / N', or 'Page 1 of N' — set the starting number and an optional page range, and the tool stamps the numbers with pdf-lib. Everything happens in your browser, so your document is never uploaded.
Common questions
Where can the numbers be placed?
Bottom-centre, bottom-left, bottom-right, top-centre, top-left, or top-right. A margin keeps them clear of the page edge.
What number formats are available?
Plain ('1'), 'current / total' ('1 / 10'), and 'Page X of Y' ('Page 1 of 10'). You can also set the starting number, so a document can begin at, say, 5.
Can I number only some pages?
Yes. Set a page range like 2- to skip a cover, or 2-9 for a subset. Pages outside the range are left untouched, and numbering counts from your chosen start.
Is there a file-size limit?
No fixed limit — nothing is uploaded, so the only cap is your device's memory. Very large PDFs are handled in your browser tab and may be slower on low-memory devices.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, in any modern mobile browser, since the PDF is edited on your device.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is edited entirely in your browser with pdf-lib. Your document is read and written locally — nothing is sent to a server.
