This calculator turns three numbers into the fuel cost of a journey: how far you are driving, how efficiently your vehicle uses fuel, and how much that fuel costs. Pick your units — distance in miles or kilometres, economy in miles per gallon or litres per 100 km — and the tool converts internally to work out the fuel used and the total cost. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you enter is uploaded.
Common questions
How is the fuel cost worked out?
The tool converts your distance and economy to a common basis, computes the volume of fuel the trip needs, then multiplies that volume by the price per unit of fuel to get the total cost.
Can I use miles per gallon or litres per 100 km?
Both. Choose your economy unit and the calculator handles the conversion. It supports miles + MPG (US gallons) and kilometres + L/100km.
Does it handle a round trip?
Enter the total distance you will drive. For a there-and-back journey, double the one-way distance before entering it, or enter the round-trip figure directly.
Why does my real cost differ from the estimate?
Real fuel use depends on speed, terrain, load, traffic, and driving style. The published economy figure is a lab estimate, so treat this as a planning number rather than an exact bill.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The math runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored on a server — the calculation is fully client-side and private.
