Common questions
Why does my transparent PNG get a background?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels must become a solid color. This tool fills them with the background you pick (white by default) so the JPG looks right instead of turning transparency black.
What does the quality slider do?
JPG is lossy: higher quality keeps more detail but makes a bigger file, lower quality is smaller but softer. Around 80–90% is a good balance for most photos.
Is JPG smaller than PNG?
For photographs, almost always — JPG's compression suits continuous-tone images. For flat graphics, logos, or screenshots with sharp edges and few colors, PNG is often smaller and sharper.
Can I convert several at once?
Yes. Add as many PNG files as you like, set the quality and background once, click Convert, and download them one by one or all together.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Each PNG is decoded and re-encoded on a canvas in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, so it works offline and your images stay private.
