Open a video file and use the start and end sliders to pick the section you want to keep. The preview seeks to your start point so you can see exactly where the clip begins. Press Export clip and the tool plays the selected range and captures it to a new WebM file using your browser's built-in recorder. Because it captures in real time, exporting takes about as long as the clip's duration, and the clip plays through once while it records. The output is WebM, the format browsers encode natively; it plays in modern browsers and most players. The whole thing runs on your device — the video is never uploaded, so it works with private clips. This is a re-encode capture rather than a lossless cut, so it needs a browser that supports MediaRecorder video capture (current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox).
Common questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is played and captured to a new file entirely in your browser using the canvas/stream capture and MediaRecorder APIs. Nothing is sent to a server.
Why does exporting take as long as the clip?
The trim is done by playing the selected range and recording it in real time — the only fully client-side way without a heavy video library. So a 30-second clip takes about 30 seconds to export.
Why is the output WebM and not MP4?
Browsers encode WebM natively through MediaRecorder but generally cannot produce MP4 client-side. WebM plays in modern browsers and most players; convert it to MP4 afterwards if a specific app needs that.
It says my browser is not supported — what now?
Video capture needs MediaRecorder with a supported video codec, available in current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Safari's support is limited. Try one of those browsers, or use the audio tools if you only need the sound.
