About UsefulTab

Hi — I'm Shadi, the developer behind UsefulTab. I build and maintain this site on my own, and I write every tool on it myself. This page is where I explain what UsefulTab is, why I made it, and how I keep it running.

Enjoying UsefulTab?

If the site has been useful to you and you'd like to support it, you can treat me to something small from my wishlist. It is completely optional — using the tools and spreading the word already means a lot.

Why I built it

It started out of frustration. I kept needing some small, one-off thing — resize an image to an exact width, convert a messy CSV to JSON, work out a loan payment, merge a couple of PDFs — and every site I landed on wanted the same things first: create an account, upload my file to their server, sit through pop-ups and cookie walls, and often hit a daily limit or a watermark unless I paid. For a thirty-second task that was absurd, and uploading a private document just to reformat it never sat right with me.

So I started building the versions I actually wanted to use: open the page, do the one thing, leave. No sign-up, no upload, no clutter. One tool turned into a handful, the handful turned into a toolbox, and UsefulTab is where they all live. It now spans 160+ tools across image editing, PDF & print, text & writing, developer utilities, everyday calculators, unit converters, and more — and I add new ones regularly as I (or the people who email me) run into things worth building.

How the tools work

Wherever it is technically possible, a tool does its work entirely in your browser. When you resize a photo, format some code, or merge a PDF, the file is read and processed on your own device using JavaScript — it is never sent to a server. That is a deliberate design choice, not a marketing line: it is faster, most tools keep working if your connection drops once the page has loaded, and it means your documents, images, and text stay with you. You can read the specifics on the Privacy page.

I write each tool to do a single job well, keep the interface out of your way, and load fast. There is no account system because there is nothing I need to store about you, and there are no per-day limits or paywalled features — every tool is free and complete.

How it stays maintained

UsefulTab is an ongoing project, not a one-time dump of tools. I fix bugs when they turn up, improve tools based on how people actually use them, and keep the catalog growing. When something breaks or behaves oddly, I want to hear about it — a quick note usually means it is fixed within a few days.

UsefulTab is free to use, with no sign-up and no limits, and I intend to keep it that way. Running the site and building new tools does take time and money, but using the tools and spreading the word already helps more than you'd think.

Get in touch

If you have found a bug, want to suggest a tool, or just have a question, I read every message. The quickest way to reach me is the contact form, or you can email me directly at feedback@usefultab.app. A lot of the tools on the site exist because someone asked for them.

Thanks for stopping by — I hope UsefulTab saves you a bit of time.
