Modern browsers gate sensitive features — camera, microphone, location, notifications, and more — behind per-site permissions. This tool queries the Permissions API to show the current state of each: granted, denied, or "prompt" (it will ask the next time a site tries to use it). It is useful when a site feature is not working: if the camera is "denied" here, that is why a video call cannot see you, and you can fix it in your browser's site settings. Refresh after changing a setting to see the new state. The tool only reads the permission states for this page; it does not turn anything on or request access. Not every browser reports every permission, so some may show as unsupported. Everything runs locally and nothing is uploaded.
Common questions
What do granted, denied, and prompt mean?
Granted means this site may use that feature now. Denied means you have blocked it and the site cannot use it until you change the setting. Prompt means the browser will ask you the next time a site tries to use it.
Does this tool request access to my camera or location?
No. It only reads the current permission state via the Permissions API. It never turns anything on or prompts for access — use the dedicated Camera or Microphone tests for that.
A permission shows as unsupported. Why?
Not every browser exposes every permission name through the Permissions API. A permission that cannot be queried is shown as unsupported here even though the underlying feature may still work when a site requests it.
How do I change a permission?
Open your browser's site settings — usually via the padlock or info icon in the address bar — and change the permission there. Return here and refresh to confirm the new state.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The permission states are read and shown entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored or sent to a server.
